Training

Never underestimate the importance of training, even when you think you already know something. You may have misconceptions about a particular action or activity, or you might pick up some valuable tips. Alternatively, you may have valuable insights you have gained that can be passed on to other neighbours.

Training can take the form of a lesson or workshop and in today’s world, online. Or it can be a practical exercise where you gain valuable experience and confidence under the guidance of an experienced practitioner.

Some RFS Brigades are keen to offer training to communities, as this ultimately helps them by supplementing crews in an emergency or in landholders undertaking more robust preparation.

Training shouldn’t just be about bushfires and fire safety. There are very many useful topics that can be helpful in maintaining a safe and productive rural lifestyle. Engaging in training as a small community helps reinforce a shared commitment and consolidate the ability to work together efficiently, when the need arises.
